Bivvying out

This photo was taken on field training. We went on an overnight trip into the field to a hut called the Wilkes Hilton. We didn't stay in the hut however, we simply slept out in the elements in what is termed a bivvy. This is just a nylon sack essentially that is a life saver when you are out field because it protects you from the elements if you are caught in some bad weather or a blizzard. The nights sleep that i had was fantastic, and the view was even better as we experienced a twilight that lasted for several hours due to the sun not really setting at that time. Posted by Picasa
